I'm strong, empowered, confident, and successful. I'm also hard to impress, high-maintenance, volatile, easy to bore, and - shockingly, I know - single. In my experience, men want their girlfriend to validate them, to adore them, to need them.
Is that selfish and ruthless, or sensible? And does it make me a "bad investment", relationship-wise? The full and fearless guide to not having it all. Is honesty the best policy with women? A woman should never come between a man and his mother. Are British men really less inclined to cheat? Alpha-dom makes dating hard. My standards are high, I'm unforgiving and often dismiss men without giving them enough of a chance, shooting myself in the foot. But to be defensive and standoffish comes naturally to an Alpha. In the animal world, it's just as likely that the Alpha in a wolf pack would be female as male.
However, to acquire the status of Alpha, a female would have to kill a lot more other wolves than a male would. Furthermore, to avoid an Alpha-male rising, the Alpha female must have the ability to bully, dominate and even kill the Beta males who insist on attempting to mate with her or otherwise demonstrate their own Alpha status. Ergo, an Alpha woman eats Beta men for breakfast. Enough said, I suggest you find out the rest yourselves. Apart from the erotic content, Iron Dominance offers intrigue, deception, friendship, suspense, character development and a few interesting stories along the way which offer material for sequels or other tales set in the same world.
Dankyo and Kirsten come to mind… When you leave the BDSM elements out, you are still left with a beautiful romantic tale, a modern and slightly weird version of Cinderella. So, Iron Dominance is an excellent erotic novel of the more intense kind. Very well written, very enjoyable and even without the erotic content, it would still be a beautiful science-fantasy romance.

The End of Men
It was steam-punk, alternative reality bondage at its best and I adored every second of it. Claire was the kind of strong woman that I love in BDSM books; she was a strong, independent woman who chose to give over her surrender to Theo. Never being taken care of and having a life filled with persecution and hardship has taken its toll and he makes her feel cherished. I screamed at the pages a few times because, the longer she held off explaining her past, the more damage her confession would do.
She is so protective over the people that show her any affection that my heart broke a little for her; she was mistreated so much in her past that any person who showed her any small kindness was grabbed hold of with both hands. Theo is an amazing character. Not only is he a truly lovely man who is compassionate and protective, he is a really hot Dom. I got the feeling that he was a Dom through and through, but only got to play at the role sexually and was never allowed to fully embrace it.
He immediately starts buying her gifts, some of which made me drool. He wants to spoil her, he wants her to feel loved but in the back of his mind is the knowledge that she is still lying to him. I admired him because he was willing to try to coax her truths out her; he believed enough in himself, and her, to think that they were nothing that would affect their relationship.
He also a severely kinky imagination that exists only in the imagination of literary Dom characters; I want a naked, bondage picnic! I knew he would be finding out her secret, I just hoped that he was man enough to work past it! With sex scenes that will make your palms sweat and your pulse race, this is a book that will make any BDSM fan happy.
With a seriously sexy Dom, with a very vivid imagination and an unlimited supply of fetish wear, and a female with no qualms about her sexuality, this is a book that will make you hot. With an undercurrent of suspense that kept the pages turning, this book checked all my boxes and made this a recommended must read! Oct 06, Pam rated it it was amazing Shelves: wet-panties , bdsm.
My goggles are officially fogged! The Steampunk construct, described by Ms. Theo, now added to my list of all-time favorite Doms, exudes authority, power and a clear sense of purpose from his introduction, but combines it with patience and a sense of humor that makes him irresistible.
Steampunk, BDSM, romance and a frankenstruck — how awesome! Unfortunately it didn't quite work for me. Both Claire and Theo seemed very shallow characters. Claire spent a lot of time in her head thinking about her deception and worrying over her reaction to Theo. To be fair, he did continuously give her the option to back out of their sexual encounters, but he was still in the position of far superior power and Claire had never experienced anyone giving her a choice before.
We were shown and told about a few of gadgets, like gyrocopters and voltaic energy sex toys, but it felt superficial. I wanted to know how the technology affected the world as a whole instead of simply being contraptions. Both of these issues were even more obvious to me because the writing was superb.

Cari Silverwood had a wonderful way with words, creating a nice flow throughout. This is one of the first steampunk novels I have read. I wasn't sure what to expect out of this new genre. It will definitely not be the last. Thankfully, there are two more already out in this series: I loved the world building, great characters, and hot and steamy sex scenes. So if you like "fade to black" you probably want to pass. The author does an admirable job combining a great story with wonderful eyes rolling in the back of the head, shudder in This is one of the first steampunk novels I have read. Even shibari!
Theo can tie me up anytime. I think this book would be a good fit for people who like a variety of different genres: bdsm, scifi, fantasy, even historical. If you're looking for a well written romance with extra sizzle and a plot, look no further, this book has a little something for everyone. View 2 comments. Theo is a rich, powerful, dominant man. He is accustomed to being obeyed in all things.
Unfortunately, while searching for survivors after a crashed airship, they locate an injured female and that starts to throw things a bit awry. He starts to encounter arguments with his trusted men that in the past obeyed his orders without question. Why can one unconscious, injured woman create all this chaos?
Well, she is a woman. Yes, think Frankenstein and you have a good star Theo is a rich, powerful, dominant man. Yes, think Frankenstein and you have a good start… only pretty and not green. In the world they are in, frankenstructs are throwaways. According to the law, if they are not filling their expected positions, they are to be killed. Those found to be harboring a frankenstruct, will face problems.
Regardless of the warnings from his security staff, Theo is determined to keep her safe, alive, and tied to his bed. I have no idea exactly what it is. My teenager knows, but me? Yeah, not so much. When I heard about this new book by Cari Silverwood, I had to go look it up. What I found intrigued me. Most mechanical items that we just overlook are powered by steam. Someone told me to think of the inside of an old time clock… you know, behind the face… lots of cogs that work together to make things work?
Then, add some steam. The background is very interesting with the airships and other vehicles, the fascinating inventions by Harry, and the descriptions in the book make it pretty easy to visualize the world that the characters are in. The characters themselves are well rounded and appealing. The story line is pretty easy to follow, even if you do not know about steampunk. There is lots of heat with BDSM throughout. If you are squeamish about such things, I would not recommend reading this book.
However, if you are like me, you will really want to know where to find this Hinchcliff and Co. There were a few things that I know, for me, I would have told Theo to kiss off… ok, perhaps a bit more explicit, but in the story, it worked out. There was a bit of some um… colorful phrases that made me laugh… probably not in a good way, but they were few and far between. Overall, I highly recommend this book whether you are familiar with steampunk or not. I know that I will be looking for another book from Ms Silverwood in the future.
Feb 13, Dark Haven rated it it was amazing. This book is a page turner that will sweep you into its story from the very first pages. My emotional roller coaster began when Clare - injured and afraid- had a chance to come clean about herself. I wanted her to tell Theo, but I was afraid too. Would Theo have given her any chance if she told the truth about her past? What a conundrum?
I found myself holding my breath waiting for the inevitable shoe to drop. Silverwood does a wonderful job ratcheting up the tension in this very unique love story, because despite all the trappings at the heart of Iron Dominance is a love story. I t is a seduction of heart palpating proportions. Theo seduces her with the sensation of his kiss, his touch and then a beaded corset that caresses all the right spots.
Just take my word for it. This is a stellar, steampunk tale in a world of war and espionage. And believe me, there are some sexy steampunk gadgets in this tale. I can only hope that Ms. Silverwood visits this world and these people again and she very well could. There are two secondary characters, Francine and Dankyo, who could have stories of their own. If Ms. Mar 03, Pat Orendorff rated it it was amazing. Wow what a book! My first steampunk novel and I adored it. The author created a very believable world and described it so well that I felt immersed in it.
Enthralled by the BDSM and the heat that erupted between them makes Theo and Claire's relationship realistic as he slowly brought her into his world. Then there is the plot to assasinate someone and Claire thinks that it is her beloved Theo so she will be able to keep him safe simply by not carrying out her mission. So she continues to lie to hi Wow what a book! So she continues to lie to him so she can keep him, the only person who has ever trated her well and made her feel safe.
But there is so much more - intrigue, deception, suspense, a well developed storyline and even the reappearance of a former collegue and the hated commander. So much in this book has depth and fully fledged characters that you can relate to so easily. I received a free copy of this book.

The End of Men - The Atlantic
Who knew Steampunk could be so sexy. Iron Dominance is the first Steampunk book I have read and I was very impressed. But, enough about the machinery! Claire is definitely wary of Theo and all his security people at first but that wariness slowly give Another great book by Cari Silverwood! Claire is definitely wary of Theo and all his security people at first but that wariness slowly gives way to the growing attraction that Claire and Theo feel towards each other.
I really liked the relationship that developed between Claire and Theo. They both learnt a lot along the way, not only about each other, but themselves also. The BDSM element in this book was good and I think readers will enjoy some of the implements used throughout the story. Aug 31, Becky Condit rated it really liked it.

This is a delightful book, with its alternative history and a plot that flows through it like a maze. The story is hot and the sex is scorching. Cari Silverwood is on my very short favorite author auto-buy list. Other than the story, characters, and the writing, I can't see why anyone would not buy this book based on the cover alone. Even if you've never read steampunk or don't know what it is you would want to read this book just from looking at that cover.
Feb 12, Shelli rated it it was amazing Shelves: bdsm , dark , erotic-romance , erotic-suspense , suspense , adult-fiction , romance. I'm not really into steam punk, didn't even know it was a category really, but since Cari Silverwood wrote it, I agreed to read it. And you know what? It was really good, I enjoyed it! Claire is what is known as a frankenstruct, a person made from cloned human parts. She was created and trained to be an assassin.
On her way to her job though, she's in a crash, and found by Theo. A man who just happens to have the same name as her target A man who also happens to see her as an individual, a person who should have all the same rights as humans, and be treated that way, something that currently isn't how frankenstructs are treated by society in general. He also happens to be really sexy, with a bit of a dominant, kinky streak.
Oh yes, not a boring moment in this book! I can't give you any more details though, you're just going to have to read it for yourself! Feb 13, Janine Peta rated it it was amazing. Review for Iron Dominance, I was just blown away by this story and its characters, it was so beautifully written and I fell madly in love with Theo and Claire. Written so much in the spirit of Bladerunner, Theo is every woman's dream man - so thoughtful, loving and delightfully dirty in bed. Claire easily falls for him but she has a past that she would rather keep hidden but of course the truth must come out eventually.
Not an ounce of disappointment in this book, my new favourite of Cari's. A different world A different world, a different kind of girl, a handsome, rich man. Heck no! Cari Silverwood does it again. A girl, with one gigantic secret, her man, Theo, who does all he can to ensure she can remain at his side, in his bed and, for the first time, in public away from what she knew as home. Twists, turns, and sex. What more could a reader ask for? First time reading something tagged as steampunk.
Not bad but I won't be in a hurry to read something else. Seems to be an acquired taste. But, while successful people must invest the time to master their craft, they can only do that when the circumstances and unique events of their lives allow it. I think that there's an important lesson for every entrepreneur and high achiever about the value of a lot of hard work and a little luck.
Something I found really interesting is how he assembled a cabinet of leaders that were either more established politically than he was or had even competed with him for office. It is a perfect example how great leaders--whether in politics or business--bring together individuals whose abilities may surpass their own in certain areas, with the end goal of creating an optimal, high-performing team.
I must've read it hundreds of times. I see many parallels, in how we've built an all-star team that wins championships. It's since become required reading at Ultimate. We give copies to our people when they join our team.
In the early days of Ultimate, Pat's words guided me. He became a mentor, if only through the pages in the book. Last year, when we teamed up with the Heat and became the jersey sponsor, it felt like I'd known Pat for years. Seeing Ultimate's logo on the Heats' jerseys is still an unbelievable feeling.
Where most business books dispense trendy concepts or silly declarations, High Output Management is more essential, balancing counterintuitive ideas people quit because of their bosses, not because of their jobs and incisive observations meetings can be for establishing consensus, sharing knowledge, or arriving at a decision--and it's important to know which sort of meeting is happening. Like many business books, it introduces frameworks, processes, and mindsets that are valuable, but unlike others it provides new and deeper layers of value and insight every time I go back to it.
As someone in the cybersecurity industry, this concept is especially relevant, since our job is to drive organizational change based on the current threat landscape. Security is constantly evolving and what you sold three years ago is now likely an outdated technique. While this may initially be viewed as a challenge by your marketing, engineering, and sales teams, it shouldn't be. The Heath brothers' book teaches us that when leaders articulate their vision and empower employees for broad-based action, industry shifts can become a driving factor for the success of a business.
By taking a city-centric view rather than a nation-centric view of economies, Jane Jacobs clarifies how the world works, how businesses are born, and how they are tied to the existing economies and geographies around them. And I am always intrigued by the process of creativity and innovation. Sometimes you literally can't script success. And you've got to be OK with that. Let the talent loose, let them do their thing, don't micromanage, and you just might get more than you expected.
Which, as Carl Spackler would say, 'is nice. Caddyshack was deemed to be an underachievement early on, until it found its target market. It was a slow burn to reach its pop culture status, where it has become the most-quoted motion picture of all time. A Cinderella story. However, it's much more than that: My aim is to ensure my team understands our company mission and inspire all members of the team to aggressively seize our opportunity and to own their respective areas. After putting down Laszlo's book , I had to continue on my mission to make our entire global team highly informed, aligned, and integrated with our company mission and culture.
